My friend and I have been dying to try this place and last night we finally had the chance. Located in the food court at the mall, Fuji, was very nice inside. You got to choose from hibachi or sushi. Being a sushi lover, the host sat us at a nice little table between the bar and "sushi station" Started with a margarita. Loved that they served it in a tall glass but it had a pineapple flavor to it. Still good though and it was only $5!!! And we were not there during happy hour! $5 dollars!!! My friend got some special cocktail that was blue which she enjoyed. Gave her a good little buzz, so it did the job! Moved on to the house salad. Good size but the dressing was alittle off. I'm a fan of ginger dressing but this salad was swimming in it! And it had a BBQ flavor to it. Very odd but I will give it to them it was a good size salad and had good toppings with it. The main course!! I got the November roll. Saw a lot of good reviews about it so I went for it. And boy am I glad I did!! Nice presentation and I think it was eight rolls. Crab salad on top and inside the roll with what I can remember was tempura shrimp, avocado, and some other amazing stuff, drizzled with eel sauce. PERFECTION! My friend got the crunchy roll which she was obsessed with. We ended the night with $25 dollars out our pocket and a good buzz!

They only had one sushi chef on duty during lunch which made it slow getting sushi out. They used more cucumber than eel on one of their rolls which annoys me. They did use big pieces of raw fish and they were all fresh, but poorly rolled, a couple of pieces fell apart. Overall it was tasty sushi and if I'm in the area I will hit the place up. But I won't go out of my way to go here.

They had vegetarian sushi rolls, which is a plus because my husband lives sushi but I usually don't want to go because they don't have many options for me. However, I ordered udon noodle soup and specifically told them vegetables only. When they brought it out it was topped with imitation crab meat and the waitress tried to argue that it comes with that even though it wasn't in the description. Then she said she could just remove it from the top. Finally, she got me a new one. Now I know it takes awhile for sushi, however, this was ridiculous. My lunch hour was almost up by the time we even got our food. In the end, the food is delicious, but they seriously need more than one chef during their lunch rush.

After reading numerous positive reviews on Yelp, my sushi loving friends and I were excited to give Fuji a try for lunch. The restaurant is located next to the food court in the mall and was a lot bigger than I was expecting. It's a really nice space with good lighting and all the normal areas you'd find including a bar, sushi bar, big booths, and hibachi tables. We all opted for the sushi lunch special, $9.95 for 2 rolls and either a soup or salad. I did the salad with eel and avocado roll and spicy scallop roll. Both rolls were good and I would order either of them again. I did forget to request soy paper instead of seaweed, but our server Sunshine said she'd remind me next visit to ask!! Our server was really nice and gave us all a card for 10% off our next visit. Nice touch.

I came here with the hubby for lunch and we left satisfied! The service was fast, and friendly. We ordered the vegetable tempura bento box, and the sushi lunch which both came with a choice of salad or miso soup, and we both chose the miso. The miso was very flavorful and a great start to the meal. The tempura was cooked well, crispy and delicious. The fried rice wasn't bad, too buttery for me though. Next time I would just sub. for steamed rice. The rolls are smaller than average, but the price was ok for lunch. I don't think I would stop by other than lunch hours because I wouldn't be willing to pay those prices for tiny rolls. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive as well. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is what really surprised me. It is pretty upscale for a restaurant inside the Northwoods mall. It would be fun to come here for a birthday or something for the Teppanyaki experience, if I was willing to shell out the $$$. For now I'm down for the lunch specials. Overall, a great spot to grab some lunch, but pricey during dinner time. The rolls are good but smaller than average. Although I enjoyed what I had, for the price I'm not sure it was enough to bring me back as a frequent customer.

One of my favorites joints to get sushi is now closer to home in North Charleston at the Northwoods Mall. We went in on a Friday night to find it lively and invited and with no wait for a table. We were seated and greeted promptly. We also got there just in time for the end of happy hour so we order 2 Sangrias, a red and white. The front of the restaurant was arranged very nicely with the cocktail bar and sushi bar both lining the wall next to kitchen. The center of the restaurant is lined with rows of red booths that bring in a pop of vibrant color next to the other row of much larger black booths. After ordering our Sangrias we placed an order for our appetizer, steamed dumplings, Goyza. These simple yet delicious shrimp dumplings with plum sauce are always the perfect start to our sushi. For our sushi we ordered a surf and turf roll, the Alaskan roll and spicy tuna roll in cucumber. All of which were fantastic. Each roll was visually appetizing and generous in size. Because it's a new restaurant, my only hope is that their quality of food and service stays consistent and only gets better.

Bumping to 4 stars! Just really enjoy their sushi. The November roll was SO GOOD! I was sharing sushi with my daughter, who's still new to sushi so I had to stick to cooked ones but they were all still very yummy. I did order the bomb shrimp, which the hostess recommended. She also recommended the November roll! Alas the bomb shrimp, bombed. I enjoyed the spicy dipping sauce but the shrimp batter was either too thick or not cooked long enough as it had that underdone texture inside. The shrimp itself was cooked well, but I won't order this appetizer again. Based on my experiences, I'd say if you stick to the sushi, you won't go wrong!

Service with a smile. We had a great server and even the manager came up to check on us. While chatting us up she found out I worked for MUSC and proceeded to tell us about medical Wed and how we would be receiving a discount for our meal. Sushi was on point as usual. Will continue to go back again and again.

I can mostly only review their lunch specials and have been always extremely happy with the quality, value, presentation and flavor. Whether it's take out or dine in, the attention to detail. I have tried both their bento box and sushi lunch special... Both are wonderful! I prefer their bento lunch special because it comes with soup or salad, a Spring roll or dumpling, a few pieces or non fish sushi, vegetables, rice and whatever meat (tofu optional) you choose. I look forward to treating myself to this lunch every so often. Never disappoints.

This was my third and last visit. The service and the food has been trending down since our first fabulous visit. The place wasn't terribly busy at lunch today and I suspect I know why now. It took nearly 40 minutes to get our food! My sushi was bland and loosely rolled. The negimaki was over cooked and my rice had large hard lumps in it. When I mentioned my disappointment to my server she looked at me sheepishly and said "I'm sorry." She didn't even send over a manager. So disappointed...

Average sushi at a average hibachi style restaurant. The waitresses were very nice and helpful though.

Been passing this place for a while now since they opened. Decided to try it with my wife since we haven't had sushi in while. Sushi selection is excellent. We will need to go back to try the hibachi.

So I was a bit worried about sushi at a mall-- but not at this spot! It's even soooo pretty. Check out my pic of my sashimi and see how thick the cuts are and how fresh the fish is!!!

The decor and seating is attractive and accommodates a variety of group sizes...there is a nice size party room for private events. Service is friendly and they check to see if everything is all right The food is of good quality and served in a artistic fashion with trendy serving plates. It is a good place to dine if you're on a diet (small portions)...but not on a budget. I would have thought I would get more rice with sushi..maybe there is more with the hibachi entrees from reading other reviews. There are no economy entrees...it is all high end...and it states on the menu "entrees that are shared will be charged $6 extra"...in other words if you're poor stay the h out..so I guess I'll stay out. I can get more to eat at Sushi 101 or Sake House for less money.

Fantastic visit! Everybody was very nice and the food was top-of-the-line. Great! And the service was awesome. We will definitely return and we recommend this location to everybody. If you don't try this you're making a mistake. We had lobster and steak and it was delicious. We also have the salads and white sauce their house dressings are delicious we tried three of them. Everything tasted like it was fresh. Hands-down the best meal we have had in the last month. Our waitress Victoria a.k.a. Tori was wonderful helpful and very very nice. From the time that we walked in the door to the time that we left everybody was interested in our satisfaction and that is very important to us. Highly recommended.

I was disappointed in Sushi restaurants quality around the area as I'm Japanese until I met this place. Sushi Rolls are great and reasonable! Miso soup is good sometimes but sometimes no flavor, not stable. I like the ginger dressing salad.

Compared to other hibachi places around town, Fuji just didn't have as good of presentation and the food just wasn't that great. Staff was nice, but overall not very impressed.

The restaurant is very comfortable and nice. Great service. The good was good not great. The spicy tuna and salmon had zero texture was like puréed fish. Tasted good but was a lite off putting.

I did work here for a while so I may be partial to the place but in my humble opinion, Fuji has the best (and prettiest) sushi in the Charleston area. Their hibachi is also amazing, just please remember that if you sit in the hibachi room that the tips are split 50/50 between the server and chef! Let shelly make you and adult hot cocoa and you won't regret it!!! Can't wait to make a trip back to SC and feast on some fuji food!!

My husband and I were excited that there was a new sushi place not far from home so we decided to try Fuji for our date night last night! First of all, everyone on staff was extremely friendly and every single person in the restaurant said hi to us and asked how we were doing! Second of all, the sangria on special was amazing! Last but definitely not least the food was delicious! My husband got the steak and shrimp combo and it was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully! The sushi was beautiful and delicious! Our server was so friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Definitely not what I would expect from a sushi restaurant at Northwoods Mall! I was pleasantly surprised! I did think that the sushi rolls were a little pricey but definitely worth the money!

Me and my wife came for Valentine's day, and the place was jumping. We didn't really want to wait for a table so we sat at the sushi bar. I'm not normally a big sushi eater, but man did this place change my mind. We got a steak tataki roll, volcano roll, and some spring rolls. These are probably more on the "beginner sushi" side of things but holy cow were they great. And our waiter was very informative and helpful, along with the great atmosphere in the place. We will definitely be returning for sushi.

Valentines day special was great! The bomb shrimp app was awesome, and the sushi rolls were perfect. Service was pretty good too.

Seriously the best sushi I have ever eaten. I have eaten a lot of sushi at a lot of different places, and this was hands down the best. I suggest the Spider and Dragon rolls.

The sushi was delish as well as Hibachi scallops & chicken. Service was fast and the waitress was very knowledgable about the food.

A rarity, but we visited twice within two days while visiting Charleston. While a nice crowd, there was no wait on Friday or Saturday evening. The highlight of both visits (aside from the wonderfully FRESH sushi) was our server, JADE, who we requested by name the next evening! The manager also visited our table to ensure we were pleased with our meals. The fact that out-of-towners returned a second night in a row speaks volumes. The hibachi steak and scallops was delish, so much so we ordered an additional side order of grilled scallops, and the sushi rolls rocked! My fave was the Firecracker, the Crunchy roll and the Spicy Scallop rolls. ! If you want dinner AND entertainment, ask for JADE!! You won't regret it!

First trip and we went in with a coupon that saved us $30. Just like any new place, its easier if the Chef just does it for you. I'll call him Quinn, he hit it dead and center. Six dishes almost divided equaly between my wife and I........first time I've watched her eat real crab and not just taste it and she liked it. We didn't even get the name of the rolls......but we will definitely return. It was so good we tipped our savings of $30 for a reward for the excellent service we received from Quinn. Pricey yes and yes you can go to a Sushi joint down the street for less, however for us after the last 9 yrs eating sushi at least 40 times each year Quinn is at the TOP of our list for now.

Great for big groups, have no problem with little kids and we're nice with my son who has Autism. All their food come to the table with a great presentation (really good details). I have tried the bento, miso soup, salad and, sushi and they were pretty good. If you let them know of anything bad they try their best to fix the problem. (And they didn't had any problem with me breastfeeding my daughter).

I have been several times and have been waiting to review. The last time I went I tried the hibachi grill. The chef we had was one of the best and entertaining chefs I have experienced. Everyone at the table was in tears laughing. The portions were generous and taste great. The owner checked on us several times and since we had a birthday brought us a special desert. Great time for the whole family. I have tried many sushi places in the years but none compare to the taste and quality of the food here . I will be back

I had a couple of sushi rolls with miso soup. All was pretty bland. Not sure what I was expecting seeing how this is in the mall at the food court.

Love love love love Fuji! The staff is great, food is amazing, and the bartenders are nice place to go for parties. Best sushi place around! Highly recommend the gamecock roll, and come during happy hour ;)

I was really impressed with the sushi dishes and the service here. They also have hibachi tables. Surprisingly, this is inside Northwoods Mall, but it's probably the best Japanese steakhouse in the North Charleston / Goose Creek area.

This review is mainly based on the atmosphere. I only ate a seaweed salad and had drinks. The salad was good but I thought they tried to makeup for lack of seaweed with a lot of cucumbers. I drank saketinis without the sour mix which was really good. They definitely didn't rip you off on the pour. The atmosphere is what I did not care for. The lighting was way too bright, there were Flies everywhere (they said they are next door to a florist so they can't control it) and very obnoxious clientele. There were no occupied tables but a full bar. It was 9:30pm so that's not too odd. There were a girl at the bar who was cursing up a storm and being extremely loud. The bartenders were pretty slow. The staff was really nice though. My friend had the dragon roll and he said it was very good.

Dined in for lunch today. Noticed when I checked in on the Yelp app there was a $50 for $45 deal, so I bought it, knowing we'd more than likely reach that amount. Service was great, server was great, although when I asked for Salmon nigiri, I was brought Salmon sashimi, but overall a good experience. Until the check came. My husband was in uniform, so they automatically applied a military discount, which was very kind of them. I let them know I had purchased the Yelp deal and wanted to apply that to our balance and that I'd pay the difference. Many discussions back and forth regarding the validity of the deal and how it states on the deal that it can be shown on a mobile device, but bottom line was that the manager asked me to print it out and bring it next time because they don't have that coupon. I told her that there may not be a next time and that I would just email Yelp and ask for a refund since they would not honor. I also advised them to look at their Yelp page and review their deal since they were the one's offering it. This experience was unfortunate, we really like the food and service here, but advertising a deal and then not honoring it is a little shady in my opinion.

Very sad!!! The food was not worth the money. For two people to eat the bill was 60.00 before tip. They advertised 8oz steak but was not!!! The rice was bland, lighting was bright and the noise level was to high. Said something to the waitress about the rice and was looked at like I had two heads!!! No sorry or discount. The sitting was uncomfortable. Don't go there!!!!!!!!

Our group agrees that the prices may be standard "affordable" prices for hibachi food, but the quality begs for a cheaper price. We went to try this place for my birthday last night and am getting another birthday dinner tonight because no one in our party left satisfied. The chef seemed nice from what we heard in his dealings with the other guests that shared our table, but he really did not pay us much attention except for some over the top "joking" at my expense because I politely declined grilled meat to be tossed at my face. My husbands shrimp was well cooked and they offer 15% military discount. We also shared some rolls: shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber, and a tempura asparagus. All rolls were the most plain and sloppy prepared rolls I have eaten; freshness of produce was not apparent. WARNING: Vegetarians that love Japanese cuisine and have come to expect safety of the miso soup, DO NOT EAT THIS. It is a beef and chicken broth mixture which I find disturbing as every Japanese restaurant I have ever been to has made this with a veggie broth. Was not a horrible place, but I doubt we would go back, or recommend to others.
